Die meistbesuchte, die meistfotografierte Hängebrücke der Welt. Falls ein Erdbeben kommt, soll es keinen besseren Ort in Kalifornien als die Golden Gate Bridge geben. Sie ist auf extreme Schwingungen ausgelegt und soll sogar ein Beben der Stärke 8,1 überstehen. Erst dreimal musste die Brücke bisher geschlossen werden: wegen Windböen von 111 Stundenkilometern und mehr, also Windstärke 11 bis 12.

The most visited, the most photographed suspension bridge of the world. If you’ve got an earthquake, it’s said you won’t find a better place in California than the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s designed for extreme vibrations making sure that it will even survive an earthquake of strength 8.1. So far, it’s only been three times that the bridge had to be closed: due to wind gusts of 69 mph and more, i.e. wind force 11 to 12.
