Deutsches Bandoneon (English text s. below)
Was wäre der Tango ohne das Bandoneon? Das Instrument kam mit den deutschen Einwanderern an den Río de la Plata. Erfinder des Bandoneons ist Heinrich Band (1821-1860), der in Krefeld ein Musikaliengeschäft hatte. Er konstruierte 1848 aus einem Akkordion das Bandonion, das später “Bandoneón” genannt wurde. Band erweiterte nach und nach den Tonumfang und produzierte die Instrumente in Serie. Und so gelangte das Bandoneon um 1900 auch nach Buenos Aires und Montevideo (Uruguay).
German Bandoneon
What is tango without the bandoneon? The instrument arrived at Buenos Aires with German immigrants. It was invented by Heinrich and (1821-1860) who had a music shop in Krefeld, Germany, a town situated near Cologne. In 1848 he made an accordion into an bandonion, which was called “bandoneón” later on. Band gradually enlarged the range of the bandoneon and started to go into full-scale production. This way the bandoneon came to Buenos Aires and Montevideo (Uruguay).
